Biography


Christopher Roller was born in Indianapolis in 1977, and started making works of art soon after. At an early age he created comic book characters and soon became a fledgling cartoonist. He was also extremely interested in drawing futuristic cityscapes and elaborate buildings, and decided he wanted to be an architect. After discovering the enormous amount of mathematics involved in this pursuit he concentrated fully on cartooning. After a series of rejections by the major cartoon syndicates and upon graduation from high school, he attended Herron School of Art in Indianapolis where he studied the fine arts. At Herron, Christopher originally intended to polish his painting skills and pursue the glorious and frustrating life of a painter. He soon discovered photography, having never taken a photography class before, and declared that his major. He won the Bratton Scholarship Award for excellence in photography his junior year and graduated in 2001. He has since maintained a residence in Indianapolis working as a portrait and landscape photographer while continuing to produce paintings. Christopher has also recorded and produced two albums of original music and, when he finds the time, delves into other creative avenues of expression such as writing, ceramics, and sculpture.
